雨上がり決死隊、DonDokoDon、ガレッジセールがゲストに招かれた『さんまのまんま』を見る。
手練ぞろいのメンバーの中で、話に参加すればさんまに声が小さいと詰られ、割って入れば場のリズムを乱し、3段オチのアンカーをお膳立てされてもタイミングを完璧に逸するのは、もちろんDonDokoDon平畠である。
思えば雨上がり決死隊が東京進出後、一旦雨ざらし瀕死体になってからブレイクする前、蛍原も常に「なんか喋れ」「咬むなや」といじられるダメキャラであった。しかし今の仕切りの達者さや長いキャリアから推測するに、あれは演技だったのだと思う。宮迫に少しでもパスを回すため、泥にまみれて体でボールを拾いに行っていたに違いないのだ。
平畠にしても芸人だったら緊張から逃れられないさんまの手前で、あそこまで集中力を切らすことは不可能のはず。つまり「わざと」一連の所作をこなしていると見るのが妥当であろう。
しかし当時でも「わざとやってる」臭が若干漂っていた蛍原に対し、平畠を見ていると「もしかして本当にポンコツ？」という思いが一瞬脳裏をかすめてしまう。完全に体温を消すことに成功した忍者のようなものか。もし意識的に無意識を持続させているならば、それはそれで禅に近い領域なのかも。オリエンタルじゃないか平畠。喋らない姿勢はサムライのそれだし、海外進出すれば人気が出そうだ。純度の高いエンターテイナーである相方・山口がハリウッドに向かうなら、平畠はロスのスシバーあたりで店の人気者でも目指してほしい。
ちなみに私の中の平畠ベストワークは、M-1第1回決勝の楽屋中継で無造作にリップクリームを塗っていた姿です。
